Aaron Mitchell, Jazz Improvisation Instructor

Aaron Mitchell was born in New Haven, CT and graduated from the Cooperative Arts & Humanities High School. He developed a strong interest in music during high school after initially going to the high school to pursue visual arts and theater. During this time he attended the Neighborhood Music School.

After graduation, Aaron attended Temple University in Philadelphia, PA where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Human Resources Administration. While in Philadelphia, Aaron got involved with the Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz where he attended and performed regularly. It was during this time he had the opportunity to play and study with many notable Philadelphia Jazz musicians including Julian Pressley, Odean Pope, Dickie Adderley, Lee Smith, and many others.

In 2004 Aaron moved to Bakersfield to pursue a career opportunity. He is currently a Technical Recruiter for a large food processing company in the area. He is an active participant in the local music scene, regularly performing a variety of styles including Jazz, Salsa, R&B, Gospel, and whatever else needs a saxophone.

More than anything, Aaron loves music and remains involved in the community to lend a hand in any way, and to continue to learn and grow as a jazz musician.
