Bakersfield Jazz Workshop Scholarship/Award Program 2019

 The BJW Annual Scholarship Award Program – 2019.

The intent of the BJW Scholarship/Award program is to provide support for continuing education in the study of jazz music.  All students of jazz are encouraged to apply as there are many factors taken into consideration during the review process.

Applications are open to both youth and adults.

You may apply for the following awards:

1 – Scholarship = Graduating senior moving on to college/summer camps

2 – BJW Discretionary Award = junior grade level or below / in college/educational purposes

3 – Kerry B. Pierce Award = junior grade level or above/in college/educational purposes


The Kerry B. Pierce Award is being given for the second time this year.  It is to be given a to High School or College student who wants to pursue a career in music. 

4 – Larry Totten Memorial = Open to all youth exemplifying musical passion and professionalism.

Application due date: Tuesday, May 14th, 2019.  Late applications will not be considered.


Tuesday, May 21st, 2019. The BJW Board of Directors to choose Scholarship recipients.


Tuesday, May 28th, 2019.  BJW Scholarship/Award presentation at The Bakersfield Jazz Workshop.
