Arts Council of Kern awards $1250 grant to the BJW

We are happy to announce that the Arts Council of Kern has awarded the Bakersfield Jazz Workshop a Community Grant in the amount of $1250 for 2012. The money will be used to help support the BJW’s educational clinics and scholarships.

Dr. Michael Millar, Executive Director of the Arts Council, said that the award was given based upon the following factors:

• the BJW’s mission, history, and projects that have been completed
• project description
• goals and objectives of the project
• community engagement
• publicity/promotion

The Arts Council’s recognition of our efforts in this manner will help us complete our mission to support jazz education, appreciation, and performance in the Bakersfield and Kern County area. We’d like to give a special thanks also to all of our fans and supporters who have helped us and will continue to help us succeed!
